Identity for the community and employees

2019

Baiersbronn has a long tradition of architectural culture that has developed and refined over centuries. Timber constructions made from local wood, the shingle roofs from the 'Baiersbronn shingle,' the clear volumes of the buildings, and a simple facade division with shutters characterize this tradition. These traditional buildings continue to shape the town's appearance today. The new construction of the municipal utilities in Baiersbronn aims to be a flagship project that exemplifies these potentials

Concept - Architectural Culture and Regional Building Materials

The design draws all its artistic principles from this tradition and translates them into a contemporary design for a commercial building. This applies to all scales: from urban positioning to volume, as well as to material selection and construction using only local wood. Thus, the new construction of the municipal utilities generates local value creation and also establishes an identity, both for the employees and for the place itself.
